The City Council discussed various topics, including authorizing the City Manager to advertise and receive bids for roofing projects at the Public Works Service Center. They also reviewed and approved a Liquor License Transfer. Updates were provided on the East Central Avenue Land Use Study, focusing on upgrading the outdated land use plan and addressing community feedback to mitigate traffic congestion and preserve greenspace. This Downtown and Riverfront Master Plan for Miamisburg, Ohio, aims to stabilize and strengthen the historic downtown core and develop an open space destination along the riverfront. The plan outlines a phased approach, beginning with programmatic requirements in the first five years, including retail recruitment, marketing, and the formation of a Community Improvement Corporation. Subsequent phases detail physical improvements such as gateway enhancements, restoration of the Baum Opera House, riverfront stabilization with boardwalks and fishing pavilions, and the creation of a riverfront plaza with interpretive elements. The final phase includes an open-air stage, additional facilities, and improved pedestrian linkages. The overarching vision is to revitalize downtown and establish an active, successful urban core as the heart of Miamisburg.
