This Comprehensive Parks and Recreation Master Plan provides a 10-year roadmap (2026-2036) for the City of Jefferson City, focusing on the provision, management, and financing of parks, greenways, facilities, and programs. Key objectives include establishing an inventory, identifying service gaps, prioritizing capital projects, expanding programming and partnerships, and enhancing grant competitiveness. The plan aims to improve existing facilities, create new recreational opportunities, and bolster community spirit, activism, and bonding among local citizens, ultimately enhancing quality of life, public health, and economic vitality for residents and visitors.

The Parks and Recreation and Downtown Events Committee meeting focused on initial organization and planning. The meeting included introductions to the Parks and Recreation Department and its programs, a review of a recreational needs survey, and a discussion of committee by-laws. The committee established its next meeting date and location, and heard from representatives of the Mossy Creek Foundation and the Jefferson Economic Alliance regarding potential partnerships and projects.

The committee will discuss t-shirts for the October festival, downtown train re-staining, and future meeting schedules. New business includes a festival at Mossy Creek Station, covering vendor booths, parade arrangements, and activity assistance; park renovations; citation recognitions for Mossy Creek Outdoor Collective, Eva Larrieu & Jefferson County Service Learning, and Matha Davis Church; and Little League use of Roy Harmon field.

The Jefferson City Council meeting on January 6, 2025, will include approval of minutes from previous meetings, a public hearing on a rezoning request, reports from various city departments, appointments to city boards and committees, acceptance of bids and professional services, and consideration of several ordinances and resolutions. Key items include budget amendments, grant applications, and the declaration of surplus property. The meeting will also cover the purchase of a VFD for the Water Plant and a CPR Compression System.

The Jefferson City Beer Board held a special called session on December 17, 2024, at 5:00 p.m., with Mayor Cain presiding. The board conducted a public hearing and considered an on-premises beer permit application for Circle S Butcher Block & Farm Kitchen LLC at 256 East Broadway Boulevard. The application was unanimously approved. The meeting adjourned at 5:03 p.m.
