The Pulaski County School Board convened for a special called meeting. The board entered and returned from a closed session, certifying that it was conducted in accordance with the Code of Virginia. Actions from the closed session included motions for student #8603895 to return to virtual instruction to complete graduation requirements by January 1st with stipulations and for student #8608147 to return to school October 6, 2025, with a plan to graduate early with stipulations.

The meeting commenced with a recognition segment, where appreciation was extended to Dave Grabley and media specialist students for producing a video titled "Champions for Impact," which featured information on programs such as the bridge to excellence, Cougar Scholars, and the ACE program, as well as new security features and initiatives for increasing school attendance. The board also discussed student-led initiatives, including a Red Cross blood drive and food and shoe drives. A significant portion of the discussion covered budget and financial reports, noting that revenues were slightly under budget, with technology expenditures exceeding projections, necessitating a budget adjustment. Discussions also addressed operational challenges, including efforts to curb electricity costs and a report on discipline data, which showed improvement in December but remained concerning compared to the previous year, alongside excellent attendance rates with declining chronic absenteeism. Finally, there was a presentation on special education closing codes, explaining the necessity of meeting federal timelines during snow days by utilizing specific operational codes.

The Pulaski County Public Schools Comprehensive Plan for 2009-2013 outlines a strategic direction focused on educating and supporting the whole child. It is structured around five key performance strands: Management and Leadership of Tomorrow's 21st Century Schools; Teaching and Evaluating Today's Learners and Tomorrow's Leaders; Facilities for Tomorrow's Schools and Their Communities; Teaching and Learning Beyond the Classroom; and Partnering with Parents and Community. The plan aims to prepare students for a global society, create safe and technologically advanced learning environments, and leverage community involvement to drive continuous improvement within the school system.

The Pulaski County School Board meeting included recognition of the Employee, Teacher and Senior of the Month, Early Education Childhood Champion, Maintenance and Technology Staff, and New River Valley Community Services. There was a student representative update. The board discussed EF Educational Tours, Therapy Dog Program, Budget Analysis, Parent and Booster Organization Guidelines, Discipline and Attendance Data Report, Center for Educational Networks and Impacts at Virginia Tech, SOL Cut Score Increase, and Calendar Items. The board approved the 2025-2031 Comprehensive Plan and Strategic Plan.

The meeting included recognizing the family of Smiths, the Jacksons and the David family, Lewis Pratt, Veterans Day, Tanya Yaya Quesenberry as employee of the month, Jessica Barlo as teacher of the month, and Adler Pacilico as senior of the month. The Virginia School Board Association recognizes the outstanding accomplishments of schoolboard members.
