This strategic plan outlines a roadmap for the Colchester community's recreation and leisure needs. It establishes a vision to promote health, well-being, and quality of life, alongside a mission to enhance the physical, social, and cultural fabric through diverse, high-quality parks, programs, facilities, and services for all ages and abilities. Key strategic areas include aligning programs with community feedback, developing a comprehensive marketing plan, establishing a formal volunteer program, and prioritizing community needs for facilities and spaces. The plan anticipates outcomes such as an increased sense of community, healthier and more active residents, sustainable recreational resources, economic viability, and inclusive program offerings.

The board convened for a special meeting to hold an executive session regarding attorney-client privileged communications concerning the Colchester and East Hampton Joint Facilities Agreement.

The Board of Selectmen discussed a range of items including the renewal of the stop loss proposal for the town and board of education, interviewed a candidate for the ethics commission, and authorized contracts for renovations to the Bacon Academy Athletic Complex and Town Recreational Complex. Additionally, the board approved operating budgets for water and sewer departments, authorized a contract for an ambulance remount, approved funding for new security systems at fire and EMS facilities, and approved a change order for masonry work at the youth center. The meeting also included reports from liaisons regarding parks and recreation, health district activities, and updates on town projects, grants, and upcoming events from the first selectman.
