The meeting included an agency update covering staffing and budget, COVID-19 response, CNCS transformation, an ALEA audit, and AmeriCorps State Program updates. Disaster preparedness and response efforts were discussed, including volunteer donations management and responses to Hurricane Sally, Hurricane Zeta, and the Fultondale Tornado. Updates were provided on upcoming meetings and trainings. Commissioner updates included information about the South Alabama Nonprofit Coalition. The Alabama State Service Commission meeting included discussions and actions on several key areas. The committee recommended funding the continuation grant for Tuscaloosa One Place. The agency provided updates on staffing, budget, and the American Rescue Plan (ARP). There were virtual mental health trainings and AmeriCorps updates. The commission is supporting response/recovery efforts of severe weather events. The commission also assisted with distribution of hand sanitizer donation and FEMA Donations.
