The board meeting focused on various student achievements, career, technical, and fine arts recognitions. Discussions included the National Day of Prayer invocation, achievements in Middle School CTA (Career and Technical Agriculture) programs like FBLA, JRTC Raider teams, Cyber Patriot competition, and Future Georgia Educators awards. Additionally, the Board recognized success in Skills USA and Trade organizations, as well as academic and theatrical achievements from the Harris County Carver Middle School fine arts program.

The meeting included a procedural discussion regarding the verbal participation of a board member and a review of payment-related items requiring refunds for the current year.

The Board recognized several student accomplishments across various programs, including JROTC, band, cross country, wrestling, and flag football. The meeting also addressed policy revisions regarding board norms and protocols, particularly concerning social media and communications. Additionally, the Board approved a list of equipment to be designated as surplus, reviewed budget recommendations, and discussed the proposed 2022-2023 board meeting calendar.

The Board meeting included several agenda items such as the removal of a specific insurance prospectus from the agenda, a move to executive session to discuss personnel and legal matters, and the recognition of an incoming school principal. A school opening presentation honored the high school valedictorian and salutatorian. Public participation featured community concerns regarding school staffing and climate. Additionally, the Board received the fiscal year 2025 audit report from Robinson Grimes and Company, which confirmed a clean audit opinion with no material weaknesses or instances of non-compliance.

This strategic plan serves as a roadmap for the Harris County School District, aiming to ensure an excellent education for every child and prepare them for lifelong success in a global society. The plan is structured around five core strategic goal areas: fostering a positive culture and climate by increasing social-emotional supports, improving attendance, and providing safe environments; optimizing operations through effective processes and a five-year facilities plan; enhancing stakeholder engagement by improving communication, increasing family and community involvement, and developing meaningful partnerships; strengthening human resources through effective recruitment, retention, training, and evaluation of staff; and promoting student growth by increasing high-quality instruction and engagement, developing vertically aligned curriculum, increasing mastery of standards, and implementing a well-balanced assessment system.
