The Council conducted public hearings regarding a request for a right-of-way vacation on 9th Street and a request for a special use permit for an apartment/multi-family development on Avenue P. Both requests were supported by the Planning and Zoning Commission and subsequently approved by the Council through the adoption of ordinances. No other items were presented in the executive session or general comments.

The meeting included reports on activities from the Police Department, Municipal Court, Public Works, Code Enforcement, and the Senior Center. Key action items included the approval of a resolution to suspend the Atmos Energy MidTex GRIP filing, the authorization of a new bank signatory, the adoption of an ordinance amending the annual budget, and the approval to modify interest charges related to a property lien.

The Council reviewed departmental activity reports, including police, municipal court, public works, code enforcement, and senior center operations. Discussion items included a correction to the notice of general election. The Council approved the closure of an unused platted street, authorized funds for the Crater Rally, and denied a request for the reconsideration of a special use permit. Additionally, the Council approved a contract for a joint election with the school district, passed resolutions regarding election personnel and equipment leasing, and authorized a grant for water meter infrastructure repairs.

The City Council conducted an executive session to discuss agenda matters. New business included the decision to table an ordinance regarding the abandonment of a right-of-way requested by the Somerville Independent School District. The Council also approved a site plan application for a commercial property, which includes fencing and the installation of a gravel base pad. Additionally, the Mayor and Administrator provided updates regarding ongoing discussions with Senator Kolkhorst concerning street infrastructure and potential funding opportunities.

The special called meeting included an Executive Session to discuss personnel matters. Following the executive session, the Council addressed several action items. Key approvals included the work schedule for the Interim City Manager, the need for an Interim Police Chief, and adding the Mayor to the City Owned Consolidated Cash and Payroll accounts. The Council also approved the purchase of stainless steel replacement parts for the 35' Spiraflo Clarifier at the Waste Water Plant at a cost of $19,773.00. No action was taken regarding the salary for the Police Chief or the re-evaluation of a new Police Vehicle purchase.
