Diocese of Marquette Synod on Synodality Synthesis
This document is a synthesis of the Synod on Synodality consultation conducted in May 2022 for the Diocese of Marquette. It details the methodology for local listening sessions and addresses ten thematic questions centered on how the Church 'journeys together.' Key areas of focus include identifying companions, enhancing listening, encouraging courageous speech, enriching liturgical celebration, fostering shared responsibility for mission, promoting dialogue within the Church and society, advancing ecumenism, refining authority and participation, improving discernment and decision-making, and forming members in synodality. The process identified existing consultation practices, highlighted opportunities for greater lay participation, recognized marginalized groups needing enhanced service, and reinforced the importance of upholding core Church teachings.
