Gulf District Schools Comprehensive Evidence-Based Reading Plan
This Comprehensive Evidence-Based Reading Plan (CERP) serves as a district-wide roadmap to enhance K-12 literacy outcomes by implementing a comprehensive system of reading instruction. The plan details the integration of Florida's Formula for Reading Success, which includes explicit, systematic, and differentiated instruction across three tiers, supported by a robust assessment framework. Core strategic pillars involve continuous professional learning for educators in evidence-based reading practices, establishing effective literacy leadership and coaching, providing targeted interventions for students with reading deficiencies and dyslexia, fostering family engagement, and prioritizing the assignment of highly effective teachers in kindergarten through second grade. The plan aims to improve student learning in Benchmarks for Excellent Student Thinking (B.E.S.T.) English Language Arts Standards and address specific needs, particularly in secondary literacy.
