The meeting commenced with an urgent update regarding an incident at the Skyline building involving smoke from an elevator mechanical room, resulting in an evacuation, though fortunately, no injuries were sustained. The primary agenda involved discussions regarding the state of the college, celebrating recent successes such as the five-year anniversary of the incubator bio-ink, a successful School of Medicine white coat ceremony, and the achievement of full eight-year accreditation from the LCME. Further discussions covered the visit from the Secretary of Middle States regarding accreditation efforts, an excellent site visit for the speech-language pathology program, and the opening of the new family medicine clinic in Skyline, which aims to support integrated health screenings and provide primary care services to faculty, staff, and students. Other topics included numerous faculty and staff awards, successful fundraising events, the opening of a campus Starbucks, an upcoming crisis management preparedness drill, and discussions regarding potentially arming campus security staff.
