The meeting focused on financial updates regarding the fiscal year budget and the Rural Operation Assistance Program. Discussions also covered the 5307 grant application process, organizational staffing updates, and the Sandhills Metropolitan Planning Organization Transportation Communications Committee project.
The committee reviewed a draft document containing recommended goals, recommendations, and actions. Discussions included rewording goal 2, the use of the word 'desired' in goal three, and the development of recommendations pertaining to the Agricultural Transition Overlay and the Small-Town Model. The relationship between municipalities and the process, the RA-USB zoning district, and the consistency of allowing major subdivisions in the RA zoning district with preserving agricultural areas were also addressed. There was a presentation on the Small-Town Model and the Rural Transition Overlay.
The meeting involved group table collaboration on goals, recommendations, and actions, with each group designating a representative to submit a synopsis. The Process Leaders will review and synthesize these results to establish general priorities and eliminate redundancies for presentation at the final March meeting. There was a discussion about the Future Land Use Map and the opportunity to update it. The committee was reminded to submit their group projects by COB on February 18, 2025, and the final meeting was scheduled for March 11, 2025.
