It focuses on protecting water resources from pesticide contamination by merging the process for identifying and evaluating pesticides in ground water with the state's authorities and responsibilities for protecting all water resources, including surface water. The plan aims to prevent contamination of water resources that would cause unreasonable risks to human health and the environment resulting from the normal, registered use of pesticides by taking appropriate actions where such risks may occur.

The Nebraska Generic State Management Plan focuses on preventing groundwater contamination from pesticides through coordinated efforts between local, state, and federal agencies. It outlines strategies for assessment, monitoring, prevention, and response, emphasizing the importance of public awareness and participation. The plan aims to protect groundwater resources by establishing action levels and implementing best management practices, while also considering the economic impacts of pesticide use restrictions.

The roadmap outlines a vision for New York State as a leader in soil health through research, outreach, and policy. It focuses on stakeholder collaboration, overcoming barriers to adopting soil health practices, integrating climate change adaptation and mitigation with soil health programming, and integrating water and nutrient management with soil health programming. The plan aims to promote a strong agricultural economy, protect natural resources, improve resilience to extreme weather, and contribute to climate change mitigation.

The meeting included a presentation on precision conservation, focusing on balancing agricultural production with conservation and environmental quality. Also presented was a pilot project on the Weather Ready Farms Certification Program, aimed at improving resilience to extreme weather impacts on Nebraska farms. There was a report on outreach efforts and survey results regarding obstacles to increasing cover crop usage, incentives for improving soil health, and factors impacting fertilizer application rates. The Task Force discussed developing a comprehensive healthy soils initiative and action plan for Nebraska, considering dividing the state into eco-regions for the plan's development. Committee assignments were made for report writing, critique, and defining initiatives, benchmarks, and measurements.

The meeting focused on the discussion of a draft report, including the definition of soil health and an initiative called "Nebraska Soil and Water Matters" aimed at promoting soil health principles. The discussion covered the emphasis on water quality and the portrayal of producers regarding conservation practices. The task force approved the Writing and Reading Committees to proceed with the report, incorporating suggested alterations. Volunteers were requested to assist in revising the language and expanding on the report's content.
