The 2020-2023 Charleston CUSD#1 District Technology Plan outlines strategies and activities focused on four key areas: Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment; Leadership; Community; and Infrastructure. The plan aims to improve digital literacy among students and staff, promote digital citizenship, transform classrooms into digital learning environments, provide technology training and support, foster partnerships with stakeholders, enhance communication, and maintain a reliable and secure digital infrastructure. Specific goals include integrating digital literacy skills into curriculum maps, implementing internet safety curriculum, providing access to communication and productivity tools, creating a districtwide data culture, and ensuring technology accessibility for all students. The plan also addresses infrastructure needs such as network security, device maintenance, and bandwidth capacity.

This document outlines a plan to address student learning gaps resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. The plan includes adding elementary classroom teachers to reduce class sizes, adding instructional coaches to provide professional development, implementing competency-based education (CBE), adding intervention and support staff, providing research-based curriculum resources, extending the school day through tutoring programs, and extending the school year through a 5-week summer school program. The plan also addresses the need for remote learning capabilities by ensuring that all students have devices and internet access. The goals of the program are to address learning gaps, support students from special populations, support students' social/emotional and mental health needs, ensure school safety, improve air quality, and provide professional development for staff. The plan will be implemented during the 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 school years and into summer 2023, with funding allocated to sustain many of the added positions beyond the grant period.
