Concerns were raised about the department's back-up plan for employees and staffing shortages. The Trooper Memorial application was reviewed and endorsed.
The meeting included a legislative update on the Governor's four veterans bills for the 78th Legislative Session, derived from the Comprehensive Veterans Legislative Reform Report (VLRR). There was also an ICVA Strategic Planning Update, with members receiving a strategic planning document to assist in meeting statutory requirements. Future meeting goals were discussed, including strategic planning finalization, the 2016 Report Document Outline, legislative updates and impacts, housing programs updates, a Veterans Information System Update, and a Veterans Advocacy Program Update.
