The committee recommended moving the financials to the Executive Committee for approval. In the Open Forum, an update was provided regarding the draft of the Reserve Policy, which is awaiting review by the President before distribution to the committee.

The committee also reviewed the UFSS Dashboard and the agenda for the upcoming October Board Retreat and meeting.

The primary discussion involved the Fiscal Year 2025-26 UFSS Budget Presentation, which was advanced by motion to the Executive Committee for their subsequent approval before proceeding to the full board. The Governance Committee meeting focused primarily on the UFSS Board Recruitment Process. Key discussions included reviewing the draft recruitment document, defining collaboration among committee and board members for candidate selection, and noting that the process is in Stage 3. The committee discussed utilizing the Engagement Dashboard in Stage 7 and the need for a concrete recommendation on giving levels for prospective members. A suggestion was made to bring at least two new board member recommendations to the February 17, 2026 Board meeting. The committee approved the draft recruitment process. Furthermore, a motion established expectations for board giving, mandating 100% annual commitment, a minimum annual contribution of $1,500 with encouragement to join the President's Circle, and 100% participation on Give Sac State Day. Other business included a proposal to challenge the Board to achieve 100% participation in giving towards the Basic Needs Center and the ASI Food Pantry, with an announcement planned for the President's Holiday Celebration. The UFSS Board Matrix was also reviewed.
