Real property appeal case involving Andrew Griffin Smith & Cheryl Mapalo Tavares as plaintiffs and Catoosa County Board of Assessors as defendant.
The board discussed the implementation of a vaccination incentive program for county employees. Key topics included the importance of vaccination to protect the community and alleviate the strain on healthcare resources, while maintaining that vaccination remains a personal choice rather than a government mandate. The discussion addressed the financial aspects of the incentive program compared to the high costs of COVID-19 treatment. Furthermore, the board highlighted the negative impact of misinformation on vaccination hesitancy and expressed a strong desire to transition past the pandemic and its operational challenges.
The board meeting covered several administrative and community topics. Key discussions included a presentation on a proposed ordinance for the disposal of abandoned mobile homes and a proclamation declaring March as Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month. The museum director provided updates on renovations and upcoming educational events, and the board presented life-saving awards to individuals for their response to a cardiac emergency. The board also addressed requests for insurance renewals for the transit department and authorized the purchase of a remote check capture device to improve financial efficiency at the county offices.
