The Board of Commissioners conducted several key actions, including the election of a Board Chair and Vice Chair, and the adoption of 2026 meeting procedures, rules of business, and the regular meeting schedule. The board approved the designation of an official county newspaper and made numerous committee appointments for 2026. Business items included an update on Taton Metals activity and the acquisition of the Eagle Mine, approval of the purchase of a motor grader, a summary of tax-forfeit land sales, and a public hearing regarding amendments to the Shoreland Ordinance. Additionally, the board approved a letter of support for an Aitkin Airport Terminal Grant.

The board received a presentation from the Land Commissioner regarding the Long Lake Conservation Center, which covered the history, purpose, economic impact, operating budget, programming, current needs, capital improvements, and future opportunities for the facility. Additionally, public comments were provided by members of the Long Lake Conservation Foundation and local education representatives.

The board received an update on the 4-H Program, declared a utility trailer as surplus equipment, held a public hearing regarding the Northeast Minnesota Regional Solid Waste Plan, and formally adopted the amended plan.
