Kalispell City Council Council Work Session
The council held a work session to discuss funding requests for two major public infrastructure projects within the Westside Tax Increment Financing district: a new central garage facility and improvements to the Flathead County Fairgrounds. The staff presented the challenges facing the current undersized and aging central garage, necessitating a new facility with better height and bay capacity. The estimated cost for the garage project is $10.44 million. Additionally, the fairgrounds project aims to eliminate blight and enhance the facility as a year-round event center, with a $2.5 million funding request. The session covered various potential funding mechanisms, including bonds and intercap loans, while noting the limitations of the city's current financial capacity.
