The main speaker, Dr. Pamela Utende, was introduced as a scholar, educator, and author, focusing on themes from her book "Dearly Beloved, Prince Spirituality and this thing called life," which explores the theology, spiritual, and sexual messages within Prince's work. Psr Alumni Council Gathering
The gathering, which was the first annual all-Zoom event for the PSR alumni Council, highlighted the theme of fearlessness. Discussions included welcoming the President of Pacific School of Religion, Reverend Dr. David Vasquez Levy, and acknowledging the contributions of alumni in various fields such as ministry, activism, and academia. A major focus was placed on the institution's efforts to regenerate the ecosystem of theological education by expanding its aperture beyond traditional programs, addressing issues like affordability, and preparing leadership for a world marked by pandemic, protest, and polarization. The proceedings also detailed plans to launch a new platform in the fall to connect students, faculty, staff, and change-makers, including a conversation on AI, religion, and democratic futures, and continued commitment to shaping public discourse on religion, gender, and sexuality through CLGS.

Pacific School Of Religion Convocation
The event, titled 'Spring Convocation/Dean's Chapel,' focused on welcoming the community back for the new semester, offering congratulations to Professor Alexandra R. Roman for defending her dissertation, and commencing with a land acknowledgement recognizing the ancestral homelands of various indigenous nations. The main discourse centered on the nature and significance of prayer in the current world context, contrasting prayer as a private activity with its necessity for social action and justice. The speaker discussed prayer as a mechanism that connects imminence and transcendence, referencing theological perspectives from Christianity, Hinduism (Advaita), and Buddhism (Interbeing/Egolessness), emphasizing prayer's role in fostering intimacy, nonviolence, and collective flourishing, particularly in addressing societal pain and inequality.
