Board meetings and strategic plans from Joan Lauman's organization
This document outlines the Hancock Place School District's 2025-2030 Continuous School Improvement Plan (CSIP), a data-informed roadmap focused on ensuring all students achieve success. The plan addresses four key priorities: strengthening literacy, improving student attendance, boosting performance on state assessments, and expanding alternative education opportunities. It is structured around four main goals: Effective Teaching and Learning, Collaborative Climate and Culture, Equity and Access, and Data-Informed Decision Making. The plan's vision is to prepare future-ready graduates who are lifelong learners, adaptable leaders, and responsible citizens, thereby ensuring academic excellence and holistic well-being for every student.
The board discussed updates on Summer School, District-closed holidays, the Summer AI Institute, and a possible Special Board Meeting regarding turf at Heine Meine. The board also discussed and approved the 2024-2025 Budget Revision #3 and Fund Transfer, as well as the 2025-2026 preliminary budget. Additionally, the first contract renewal with Chartwells for food service was approved, pending DESE approval. The board had an initial reading of recommended revisions from MSBA for several board policies and reviewed timelines for school board professional development workshops in 2025-2026.
The special board meeting included approval of the special open session agenda and employment recommendations. Bids for Phase I Improvements at Heine Meine were discussed, but the item was tabled for a later vote.
The Hancock Place Board of Education held a meeting to discuss several key items. The board recognized outstanding students from Hancock Elementary, Middle, and High Schools. They approved a revised resolution for the issuance and delivery of General Obligation Refunding Bonds Series 2020A. The board also approved Fick, Eggemeyer & Williamson to conduct school district audits for three years. Furthermore, they approved salary schedule increases for certified staff, support staff, and extra-duty schedules for the 2020-2021 school year, as well as an increase in summer school compensation. The board reviewed proposed revisions to several board policies and heard a presentation on the summer school plan.
The board meeting included student recognitions from various schools within the district. The board discussed district updates and current events, including the Taste of Lemay, upcoming Alumni and Chamber of Commerce events, and the Cross Country Invitational. The board approved the purchase of eight (8) copies from Marco and selected representatives for the SSD Governing Council. Initial readings of several board policies were proposed for review, and principals presented recaps of their 2022-2023 goals and discussed goals for the current school year.
