The committee discussed making the Advisory Committee more active and stronger by updating the Advisory Council Charge. The Advisory Council will meet twice per semester and can add agenda items to the Core Steering Committee. A review of ACME activities was conducted, and upcoming important dates were noted. There's a need for more communication about ACME, particularly regarding guidelines for enrollment caps and tutors. The Math Studies Program is nearly finished. The committee also discussed transferability of Math courses and ESL credits, and the support structure within the ACME policy, including embedded tutoring hours and incentives for participation.

The strategic plan focuses on improving student success and equity in corequisite and gateway courses through engagement, challenge, and support. It includes initiatives for math and English, aiming for full implementation by Fall 2025. The plan involves phasing in corequisite models, reducing developmental courses, and providing transitional supports like comprehensive case management and bridge programming. It also addresses ESOL needs, aligning curriculum and placement processes to support multilingual learners, with future programming including summer bridges and accelerated tracks.

The agenda includes the election of the Vice Chair of the Board, comments from the Board Chair and the CSCU System President, and institutional updates. It also covers the approval of previous meeting minutes, academic program modifications and new programs, CT State Community College aligned degrees and certificates, and the appointment of a CSU Professor. Additionally, the agenda features reports from the Academic & Student Affairs, Audit, and Finance & Infrastructure Committees, as well as an executive session concerning collective bargaining and litigation.

The agenda includes faculty award recognition, comments from the CSCU President and Vice Chair, and approval of previous meeting minutes. It covers academic programs with discontinuations, modifications, suspensions, and new programs. The agenda also includes CT State Community College policy recommendations, aligned curriculum updates, Board of Regents Faculty Awards, CSCU Shared Governance Award, CSU Promotions and Tenures, Faculty Research Grants, Community College Emeritus recognitions, and recognition of the CSCU Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) All-Connecticut Academic Team and 2022 Henry Barnard Award Recipients. There were also discussions regarding the appointment of Dr. John Maduko as President of CT State Community College and discussion and feedback on key student issues such as affordability and barriers to student success and completion.
