The Go Enhance RTS Study Executive Summary evaluates premium transit modes as a cost-effective, sustainable mechanism for improving east-west connectivity, mobility, and transportation choice for the Gainesville Regional Transit System. The study outlines five key goals: improving mobility and transit accessibility, ensuring equitable transportation options, enhancing environmental quality, strengthening community cohesion, and developing cost-effective and financially viable transportation options. The recommended Locally Preferred Alternative focuses on implementing enhanced bus service (TSM alternative) in Corridor A, with an emphasis on establishing a continuous high-frequency transit corridor linking key community focal points, with services projected through 2025.

The board discussed proposed service changes for Spring 2026 and conducted elections for the positions of Chairperson and Vice Chairperson. Staff provided comprehensive updates across multiple departments, including the hiring and training of ADA paratransit and fixed-route operators, marketing strategies for route changes, improvements to customer service, and grant procurement efforts for smaller maintenance vehicles. The Director's report detailed ongoing and future infrastructure projects, such as ADA improvements at bus stops, the development of transfer stations, and the installation of solar canopies. The meeting also addressed public feedback regarding bus capacity and service reliability, alongside a discussion concerning the procurement of transit bus models.

The board discussed the upcoming cancellation of the paratransit service contract and the transition of operations, alongside the impending launch of the new 'RTS Plus' application. Key infrastructure updates included construction timelines for the Eastside Transfer Station and early discussions regarding the potential development of a Westside Transfer Station. Members reviewed fleet replacement plans for 2026, the Federal FY26 Program of Projects, and mandatory state reports regarding transit productivity and performance measures. Additional dialogue focused on the potential for RTS to transition into a Transit Authority and the ongoing contract considerations with the University of Florida regarding student transportation fees.

The board discussed the potential transition of ADA paratransit services from MV Transportation to an in-house model. Customer service reported on route change complaints and the positive reception of the Text-Bus alert app. Transit planning addressed capacity challenges arising from Fall service changes and evaluation of upcoming Spring service changes. Marketing updates included the restoration of service to several routes, ongoing driver recruitment, the achievement of ADA compliance for the organization's website, and outreach plans regarding the paratransit service transition. Operations reported smooth functioning with 128 drivers.
