Tufts University Report and Recommendation
This report recommends that Tufts University leadership adopt a policy to refrain from issuing institutional statements on political and social matters not directly related to its core educational, research, and service mission. The policy aims to protect and encourage viewpoint pluralism, academic freedom, and freedom of speech within the university community. It seeks to reinforce the university's commitment to open inquiry by avoiding actions that could discourage diverse opinions, lead to selective communication, presume campus-wide consensus, or involve commentary on issues outside administrative expertise.
