The meeting focused on updates regarding the WSCC addition project. The project is on schedule towards the Temporary Certificate of Occupancy (TCO) with plans to increase the jobsite workforce. There was discussion of schedule slips for co-developments north of Olive due to manpower and union negotiations. The team is addressing cost issues related to American Bridge (AB) schedule deficiencies. The financing plan includes sources from financing Furniture, Fixtures and Equipment (FF&E) procurement and sale of the Horton Street South property. Construction of the office co-development podium is taking longer than expected. The team resolved issues with the Mixing Zone flooring and is addressing an issue with the curtain wall expansion joints. Workforce inclusion data remains strong, and the team is working through cost and schedule issues related to artwork. The 150 Horton Street marshalling yard due diligence period has been extended, with closing anticipated in late September.

The meeting included a recognition of Tom Norwalk's service to the WSCC PFD Board. The board discussed the Teamsters' strike impact on the Addition Project schedule, resulting in delays. Updates were provided on the Summit building's progress and financial matters, including legislative support and Moss Adams' audit plan. The Art Committee's recommendation to accept donated art was approved. Discussions also covered the Summit Grand Opening plan, industry trends, security issues, and staffing plans. The Facility Committee discussed completed and uncompleted capital projects, property damage, and escalator repairs. Visit Seattle reported on destination overview and sales, while WSCC sales were also reviewed. COVID-19 issues, industry trends, and the DEI Program were addressed, along with updates on branding and the Seattle Convention Center name change.

The WSCC PFD Board of Directors held a strategic planning retreat to discuss various topics, including the naming and branding of the convention center, an overview of the Addition project, and updates from different committees. The board also reviewed the mission and vision statements, marketing strategies from Visit Seattle, capital program, and updates on the Seattle Waterfront Project. Additionally, the board discussed government affairs, long-range planning, finance, and outreach initiatives.

The WSCC Public Facilities District Board of Directors convened a special meeting to discuss and potentially act on Resolution 2021-09, concerning the Purchase & Sale Agreement for the sale of property at 150 South Horton Street in Seattle, WA. The board discussed the terms of the agreement, including the purchase price, lease-back option for the district, and potential use of the property for the Addition project. Clarification was provided on the lease rate, the entirety of the property being sold, and the initial purchase price. The board also discussed potential liabilities and contingencies related to the sale. The resolution was approved, authorizing the Chairman to execute the Purchase & Sale Agreement and related documents.
