Illinois Department of Corrections Language Access Plan 2026-2030
The Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC) Language Access Plan outlines a five-year strategy to ensure meaningful and equitable access to its services, programs, and opportunities for individuals with Limited English Proficiency (LEP). The plan details key areas such as needs assessment, staffing and coordination, provision of language assistance services (including interpretation and translation), notification of available services, staff training, a concern resolution process, and continuous monitoring and evaluation. Its primary objective is to align IDOC's practices with the Illinois Language Equity and Access Act and other federal and state standards, thereby removing language barriers and fostering effective communication.
