The meeting commenced with a performance by the Elko Coraliers, followed by the approval of the agenda. Public input was addressed, including concerns from a parent board in West Wendover regarding budget allocation, tie slip policy, and the need for a translator. Discussions were held regarding interim superintendent interviews and potential appointments, with board members expressing their perspectives on the candidates' qualifications and experiences.

The board discussed and approved the agenda. A presentation was given by Adobe Middle School regarding career pathways. Andre Ponder, Battleborn Youth Challenge Academy program director, was introduced. The January Stars recipients were recognized. The board reviewed and approved policy ACB regarding service animals in schools and proposed changes to policy G BB30 concerning the possession of dangerous weapons.

The meeting included recognition of the Elk County School District spelling bee top finishers. A presentation was given by Eric Flock regarding e-rate consulting, detailing the benefits and processes of the e-rate program, including discounts for internet access, wide area networks, and hardware. There was also a discussion regarding the receipt, review, and possible approval of the Elk County School District CTE comprehensive local needs assessment for Perkins V funding.

The meeting included recognition of the national recognition program award recipients. The South Side Elementary robotics team gave a presentation. There was also a presentation from Mining Center of Excellence regarding their vision and mission.

The meeting included an approval of resolutions to augment the budget to the general funds, expendable trust funds, special revenue funds, proprietary funds, and capital project funds for the 2024 and 2025 School District budget. The augmentation is a routine item done to adjust the amount of funds based on ending audited fund balances and any additional revenues. There was a decrease in the general fund and increases in the English learner fund, state funds, sped, and trust fund.
