The meeting included discussions on the appointment of a new member to the Zoning Board of Adjustment and a review of the Recreation Department's programs, facilities, and SWOT analysis. The Board discussed the Benson Park Advisory Committee Charter and the acceptance of a grant for the Robinson Pond Boat Launch. Additionally, the Board authorized plumbing and general contracting services agreements with local firms. Engineering services for the water utility were discussed, alongside an update on bridge repairs and a proposed partnership for a transfer station facility expected to generate annual revenue for the town.
The Board of Selectmen conducted a public hearing regarding the acceptance of a grant from the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services. Following the hearing, the board officially approved the acceptance of a $339,000 grant for the Regional Water Main Project, which is a 100% reimbursed initiative related to PFAS water suppression infrastructure. The Development Services Director was designated as the point of contact, and the Town Administrator was granted signatory authority for the grant.
The Board reviewed and addressed three variance applications. The first case involved granting a variance to permit a two-lot subdivision on a private road, despite the absence of required public road frontage. The second case concerned a request to allow shared parking between two adjacent properties under common ownership; this was approved with stipulations requiring a two-way driveway and a curbed pedestrian sidewalk. The final case involved a request to construct a duplex in a residential zone, which prompted Board discussion regarding the validity of the applicant's stated economic hardship and compatibility with the existing neighborhood.
