The board approved an overnight field trip request for the Senior High Band to Florida. The board also discussed policy reviews, the MSBA Convention, staff promotions, a 3 Year Principal & Teacher Professional Growth Plan, the proposed hiring of a school nurse, and a Caleb Thielbar recognition night. The meeting included a report on the Building and Grounds Committee Meeting and the hiring of a Junior High Boys Basketball Coach. A discussion regarding a possible land purchase occurred in a closed session, but no action was taken.

The board accepted resignations from teaching and coaching positions and approved fall coaching positions. New and revised policies were presented and approved, covering topics such as mandated reporting of child neglect, enrollment of non-resident students, extracurricular transportation, video surveillance, open meetings, personnel data, harassment and violence, chemical use and abuse, drug-free workplace, pupil records, field trips, and student transportation safety.

The school board discussed and approved several key items, including the school district insurance for property, auto, and liability, transitioning the carrier to EMC with increased property insurance coverage and added liability and data compromise coverage. They also approved the estimated fiscal budget for 2013-2014, addressing a shortfall by adding a Kindergarten teacher and a Phy Ed/Health Teacher. The Annual Report on Curriculum, Instruction, and Student Performance was approved, noting changes in state testing and new CPR training requirements for grades 7-12. The Health & Safety Budget was approved, allowing the Administration to proceed with the Health and Safety Levy in the fall. The board also approved the resignation of the JV Basketball Coach and the addition of teaching positions.
