City Council Regular Meeting
The City Council meeting agenda included several key operational and planning items. Discussions covered a quarterly update from KM Forward and a presentation regarding a proposed amendment to the Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) to revise sidewalk and fee-in-lieu standards, which staff recommended advancing to the Planning and Zoning Board for review. The Consent Agenda included adopting the minutes from the January 13, 2026, meeting and setting a public hearing date for March 24, 2026, concerning a voluntary contiguous annexation for property located at 416 Dixon School Road. For the regular agenda, the Council considered adopting a resolution to accept the $140,000 Safe Streets for All grant, which requires a $35,000 local match for creating a Safety Action Plan. Further actions included adopting an ordinance to repeal a prior demolition order for 200 East King Street, and authorizing an application for a grant to support the hiring of two new police officers for traffic safety enforcement. The Council also voted to adopt ordinances for the demolition of a property at 304 Waco Rd, to authorize repairs to a dwelling at 813 N. Piedmont Ave, and to enforce 'No Trespassing' on City-owned property. Finally, a budget amendment for $60,000.00 was approved to replace a police patrol vehicle that was totaled in a crash.
