The commission conducted a continued public hearing regarding file number 2026-29, an annexation request for property connection to city sewer infrastructure. The planning staff recommended denial of the application, citing conflicts with the municipal code and concerns regarding inadequate infrastructure. The applicant presented arguments contesting these findings, emphasizing existing utility capacities, disputing the required land dedications as excessive, and requesting approval to proceed with development plans.
The board held a public hearing regarding an application for the retroactive approval of exterior modifications to the Hood River Banking and Trust Building, specifically involving an awning and new lighting fixtures installed without prior permit. The staff report recommended approving the awning modifications but advised the removal of the non-historic chandelier and wall sconce due to their incompatibility with the historic district. The applicant provided testimony on the necessity of the modifications for safety, while the board discussed the process for submitting replacement lighting that meets historic review criteria.
The Landmarks Review Board will hold a public hearing to consider a proposal for exterior alterations to the Hood River Banking & Trust Building. The proposed modifications involve changes to an awning on the western elevation and the installation of a new chandelier underneath the awning to illuminate the stairwell, which requires Landmarks Review due to the building's status within the local Historic District.
