A closed meeting was held to address personnel matters, resulting in the approval of a probationary employment contract.

The meeting included reports on committee activities. The Abilene Recovery Council is working on securing an on-demand video link for a drug awareness presentation. Serenity House is no longer a partner for fulfilling Tucker's Law requirements due to a content breach, and alternative avenues are being pursued. The committee reviewed the Wellness Policy and passed a motion to remove the first paragraph under "Staff Wellness and Health Promotion." Bylaws were also reviewed, with recommended changes recorded to be redistributed for approval, including adding members in the Spring. The annual report due date of June 1 was noted, with Cristi Doty scheduled to present it to the Board after committee approval. A nomination for Vice Chair was made.

Key discussions included a recap of the 2023-2024 SHAC annual report. The Wellness Policy for 2023-2024 was reviewed, and a decision was made to decrease the frequency of SHAC meetings in subsequent years. The committee also addressed the focus strategy regarding compliance with "Tucker's Law" requirements by adopting the 10-week Impact Youth Prevention Program for 7th-10th grade students, with plans to extend this to 6th grade in the spring. An update was also provided on the Abilene Recovery Council's On Demand Video Status.

This Wellness Plan outlines the district's strategy to implement its school wellness policy, focusing on compliance with federal requirements. Key areas include establishing goals for nutrition promotion, nutrition education, physical activity, and other school-based activities designed to foster student wellness and promote healthful eating. The meeting addressed the review and evaluation of the Jim Ned CISD 2025-2026 Wellness Plan, including specific discussions regarding the number of microwaves at JNMS and JNIS, and coordination with PTOs for staff breakfast during Nutrition Month. An action item involved approving the 2025-2026 Wellness Plan for recommendation to the JNCISD Board of Trustees, with voting to occur via email between Thanksgiving and Christmas.
