The committee reviewed the current conditions and ongoing construction projects at Lyme-Old Lyme Middle School and Center School, noting efficient day-to-day operations and successful HVAC implementation. Discussion also covered district-wide construction projects, including the status of switchgear at Mile Creek. Additionally, the committee reviewed the Multi-Year Facilities Plan and the Undesignated Funds report.

The Superintendent presented the proposed budget of $41,477,955, reflecting a 4.61% increase from the previous year. Public comment focused on specific areas, including questions about the necessity, qualifications, and costs associated with the Special Education Coordinator position, and inquiries regarding the funding source—whether the budget increase or reserve funds—for unexpected adjustments related to hot water heater replacements.

The Communications Update segment included discussions on the distribution of 'Focus on Education,' the posting of a student-created video highlighting the school system on the website, and plans for communicating the upcoming Budget Referendum. Social media account updates are also in progress. In Policy updates, the committee agreed to recommend the removal of the current Bullying policy (4118.15) as it is superseded by the School Climate Policy (5131.911). Furthermore, the committee agreed to forward a revision to the Student Wellness policy (6142.101) to the Board of Education for approval, specifically focusing elementary classroom celebrations on activities rather than food. Compliance with all state safety and security requirements, including those related to immigration and customs enforcement, was also discussed with no resulting action taken.
