West Valley City Council And West Valley City Planning Commission Special Meeting
The joint meeting focused on reviewing and discussing the future land use map as part of the city's general plan, with input from a consulting firm. Key discussion topics included the designation of land categories, such as manufacturing, commercial, and residential areas, and the potential for future development. The council and planning commission members deliberated on policies for estate residential zoning, the need for detached single-family homes, and how to manage the transition of larger parcels—including decommissioned churches and schools—to maintain community character. The potential for higher-density redevelopment in specific areas was also explored, balancing the need for growth with existing community preferences and the lack of retail and services in certain zones.
