The committee reviewed the ongoing Science of Reading work and the findings of a district-wide ELA curriculum audit conducted with the assistance of a literacy consultant. Key discussion topics included an evaluation of piloted knowledge-building programs, Arts & Letters and Fishtank, resulting in the decision to move forward with the Fishtank curriculum. The committee also assessed the UFLI phonics program and outlined a rollout plan involving partial implementation in the spring and full implementation by the fall for the elementary division.
