The Board discussed and acted upon several variance requests. Key topics included the approval of a variance for subsurface drainage and fill placement on a property in Covington, the approval of a variance for driveway width and rear yard landscape area in an industrial district, and the rescinding of a prior denial for a boathouse size variance to allow for reconsideration. A request involving multiple after-the-fact variances for setbacks, driveway, and retaining wall/fill on a property in Slidell was postponed to allow for additional information and letters of no objection. The Board also reviewed general concerns regarding control of speakers during hearings.

St. Tammany Parish Council Council Meeting
The meeting focused on the 'Keep Tam Safe' initiative, which involves a proposed quarter-cent sales tax to fund critical criminal justice services, including the jail, district attorney, courts, coroner, and DNA lab. Representatives from the finance department and a consultant presented details on the parish's tax structure, highlighting a structural imbalance in the budget due to a lack of dedicated funding for these mandated public safety agencies. The discussion centered on the need for new revenue sources and the plan to offset the proposed sales tax with reductions in property taxes to lower the overall financial burden on residents.

St. Tammany Parish Planning And Zoning Commission Zoning Meeting
The meeting primarily focused on managing the agenda items through postponements and withdrawals. Multiple zoning change and conditional use permit applications were postponed, including cases involving commercial excavation and zoning map amendments, due to incomplete documentation. Staff clarified the specific technical requirements for these applications, such as the need for drainage and fill plans, hydraulic calculations, and detailed site surveys, which are necessary for proper review. Additionally, one zoning change request was officially withdrawn.
