Further agenda items addressed the organizational evolution of the communications department, encompassing new roles and social media performance, as well as an update on the 2024 legislative session and new UNC System and NCSSM budget priorities.

The meeting included reports on the 2017-2019 Capital Budget Request, including discussions on legislative expansion funding for wellness, campus safety, research, and entrepreneurship, and efforts to make faculty salaries more competitive. Updates were provided regarding governmental appointments to the Board and progress on the Western Campus planning, including site evaluation and upcoming community engagement. The committee discussed a resolution to delegate expanded salary authority to the Chancellor, reviewed the draft agenda for the upcoming Board of Trustees meeting, and proposed dates for the 2017-2018 meeting schedule. Additionally, the committee discussed a policy revision regarding the potential future establishment of an endowment fund and received updates on campus construction and renovation projects.

Strategic goals were presented for expanding partnerships into new counties and focusing the upcoming STEM Cohort Fellowship on AI education. The committee reviewed the Institutional Advancement Quarterly Report for Winter 2022, which included updates on the Ignite + Transform campaign fundraising goals, progress across various institutional initiatives, and return on investment metrics for fundraising efforts. The meeting also featured a demonstration of communication tools used for the capital campaign launch, an update on the upcoming school website relaunch, and an orientation on constituent relations, detailing the roles and engagement strategies for alumni and parent associations.

The committee reviewed orientation materials concerning their roles and responsibilities and evaluated the internal audit activity for the previous fiscal year, subsequently approving the internal audit plan for the upcoming year. Financial updates included a review of fiscal year-end financial statements and the UNC business process compliance program. Additionally, a construction and renovation report was presented, covering project status and the HUB report. The committee also approved proposed salary increases for faculty and staff for the upcoming fiscal year.
