Advisory Committee Meeting
The committee discussed firearms proficiency requirements, emphasizing the need to distinguish between basic qualification standards and performance-based training. Participants highlighted the lack of standardization in target dimensions, scoring methods, and target types across different agencies, noting that current standards vary significantly. Discussion also touched on the feasibility of creating a unified state-wide qualification course versus setting guidelines that allow for agency-specific adaptations, considering resource limitations for smaller agencies. The committee explored the potential for incorporating hit factor scoring as a performance metric.
