Board meetings and strategic plans from Felicia Trammel's organization
The council meeting included discussions on an Optimist Day proclamation, police statistics, an outside employment policy for police officers using city vehicles for off-duty work, and a financial report. A first reading of an ordinance to increase water rates was approved, along with the settlement amount from Allstate for a totaled police vehicle and financing for a new police vehicle. Discussions also covered an existing peddling ordinance and a possible moratorium on cell tower construction. Finally, hourly pay rate increases were approved for two employees.
The City Council Workshop meeting discussed the number of dogs allowed within city limits, considering county code and municipal limitations. The meeting also addressed requirements for establishing water and/or sewer services for those outside the city limits, deciding that further discussion was needed.
The City Council meeting included a public hearing regarding the annexation and rezoning of the Christ Chapel property, approval of a proclamation honoring the 175th anniversary of Montgomery Lodge, and review of the financial report for March 2018. Council members also discussed the Streetscape III project and the rehabilitation of the Old Zebulon School Building. An alternate work schedule was approved.
