The consolidated plan for Lakewood Township focuses on housing and community development needs for low and moderate-income persons and families. Key areas include housing rehabilitation, public facilities, public services, and program administration. The plan coordinates the investment of CDBG dollars for planned programs and activities, including support for public service organizations, infrastructure improvements, and COVID-19 related support. The plan also addresses lead-based paint hazards and promotes affordable housing and economic opportunities.
The Planning Board held a review session for the 2017 draft Master Plan. Key topics discussed included proposed land use maps, housing density subcommittee recommendations, and infrastructure requirements such as street widening, solid waste collection areas, and school site planning. The board deliberated on the potential impact of rezoning various areas, the necessity of balancing growth with preservation, and the implementation of transportation improvement district impact fees to fund necessary infrastructure upgrades. Concerns regarding school site designations, traffic congestion, and the impact of future development on existing residents were raised by both board members and the public.
