Key discussions during the committee meeting focused on feedback from the December Budget Forum, where concerns were raised regarding campus constituent awareness, declining morale due to budget deficit rumors, and perceived lack of transparent communication from leadership concerning budgetary decisions such as cost-cutting measures. Recommendations for improving the upcoming April Flex Day Budget Forum include requesting pre-written questions from the Academic and Classified Senates and scheduling the forum earlier in the day for a longer duration to encourage broader attendance. Additional topics raised for leadership consideration included addressing the deficit rumors, clarifying the source of recent funding additions, inquiring about leadership's actions to remedy the situation, and understanding the future impact of the student housing project on staffing costs. Action items included proposing pre-written questions for the April Budget Forum from both the Academic and Classified Senates and scheduling the next forum.
