This District Improvement Plan for Follett Independent School District aims to empower students for lifelong success and foster future leaders. The plan focuses on enhancing academic skills and post-secondary readiness, providing professional development for staff, strengthening parental and community involvement, maintaining a safe and orderly environment with quality facilities, and promoting physical education and holistic student development. It also emphasizes improving academic experiences, building leadership and instructional capacity, and effective facility management.
This District Plan outlines a strategy to meet teacher certification requirements by the 2029-2030 school year, delaying full implementation as permitted by state education code. The plan details strategies to reduce uncertified teachers across various subjects, including Reading/ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies. Key components include establishing partnerships with Educator Preparation Programs (EPPs) like West Texas A&M PACE Program, Teachers of Tomorrow, and 240 Certification, and implementing support mechanisms for uncertified teachers such as mentorship, instructional coaching, and financial incentives. The objective is to achieve full compliance with zero uncertified teachers by the end of the 2029-2030 school year.
The committee held a meeting to discuss updates regarding safety and security equipment, specifically focusing on the acquisition of a ballistic shield, a breaching tool, and a 230 shirt/halogen tool. Additionally, the committee reviewed the current Basic Plan and the Active Threat Plan.
