The Commission addressed several agenda items, including the resignation of a member and the appointment process for a replacement, emphasizing a preference for representation from under-represented townships. The Zoning Administrator provided a report on permit activity for the current year. The Commission reviewed an application to repeal the county zoning ordinance, ultimately voting to reject it as incomplete due to a lack of required supporting documentation and specific repeal language. Discussions were held regarding the transition from countywide to township or joint zoning. Additionally, the Commission finalized the County Master Plan and voted to recommend the adoption of a Short-Term Rental Ordinance text amendment to the Board of Commissioners.
The Board addressed various administrative and financial matters, including the approval of audited bills and the authorization of the sale of a county vehicle. Key discussions involved staffing changes for the Building Codes Clerk position, updates to the Zoning Administration Fee Schedule, and the adoption of an apportionment report. The Board also reviewed agreements related to the MERS Health Care Savings Plan and the Fourth Amendment to the Rooftop License Agreement with Gogo. Additional actions included authorizing legal steps for a zoning sign violation, tabling proposals regarding a zoning ordinance update and property appraisal, and scheduling a future budget meeting.
The agenda focuses on financial administrative tasks, including the review of accounts payable and financial statements. New business items include fuel dispenser replacements, an MDOT winter maintenance agreement letter of understanding, and the approval of PA 152 80/20 insurance benefits. The meeting also includes provisions for an engineer/manager report, announcements regarding upcoming meetings, and public comment opportunities.
