This document serves as a close-out and extension summary for the MSD of Lawrence Township's 2023-2026 Strategic Plan. It details successes and ongoing initiatives across key strategic pillars: Academic Achievement, Culture, Staffing and People, Facilities, Technology, and Finance. The plan focused on expanding access to advanced learning, adapting to new accountability models, enhancing educator wellness, improving licensure tracking, completing facilities renovations, maximizing technology use for students, and ensuring fiscal responsibility. Informed by a 2026 stakeholder survey, future focus areas for the 2026-2027 school year include aligning academics with student identities, interests, and needs, maintaining high-quality facilities, making fiscally-sound decisions, supporting safe instructional environments, ensuring clear and accessible communication with families, and increasing student achievement.

The board conducted a preliminary determination hearing for a capital improvement project involving expansion and renovation at the McKenzie Center for Innovation and Technology. Discussion topics included the legal steps for issuing bonds, financial parameters such as borrowing amounts and repayment terms, tax impacts on property owners, construction cost management and the use of guaranteed maximum prices, and the procurement of furniture, fixtures, and equipment for the center. Additionally, the board received updates on the progress of various school facility renovations and a review of the strategic plan focused on academic advancements, college and career pathways, and educational neuroscience certification.

The Board of Education meeting included various student-led activities and recognitions, such as the presentation of Above and Beyond awards, Science Fair achievements, National Math Star awards, and VEX Robotics state championship honors for middle and secondary school students. The board also held a preliminary determination hearing regarding a $175 million project focused on the transformation of the McKenzie facility, as well as district-wide HVAC and roofing improvements.

The board meeting focused on various student and staff recognitions, including the presentation of Above and Beyond Awards for exceptional contributions in the school community. Additionally, the board recognized elementary and secondary school winter sports champions and high-achieving students in extracurricular activities such as honor choir, basketball, wrestling, swimming, diving, and unified sports programs. The board also addressed technical issues regarding the meeting's document platform.

This document outlines a 10-year facility plan, developed by the Blue Ribbon Phase II Committee, to address academic, maintenance, growth, and preschool needs, aiming to foster great schools and a great community. The plan is structured into five priorities, commencing in 2025 and extending through 2032, covering comprehensive facility upgrades including roofs, HVAC systems, and capacity enhancements across various elementary schools, middle schools, high schools, and early learning centers. It also includes renovation projects and new construction initiatives.
