The session underscored the district's commitment to character, academic and athletic excellence, and the partnership between educators, coaches, and the community.

The committee discussed several items regarding district safety and security, including the approval of the District Emergency Operations Plan, a three-year safety and security audit, and general district updates involving School Resource Officers, emergency management coordinators, and technology. The agenda also included a review of district vulnerability assessments and campus intruder detection audit findings, alongside the coordination of a future summer meeting. An executive session was scheduled to deliberate on security personnel, devices, infrastructure, and information resources technology.

The President's report highlighted the distribution of commemorative USA 250 yard signs and provided updates on the disposition of several surplus district properties, including the old Dragon Stadium and the former CIS building. The board discussed its ongoing commitment to regulatory compliance regarding asset sales. Furthermore, the report outlined various facility improvement projects scheduled for the summer, including lighting upgrades, elevator modernization, safety enhancements such as new security fencing, locker room renovations, and extensive maintenance and repair work across multiple campus facilities funded through Tax Increment Financing.

The committee held its first session of the school year to review its purpose, roles, and responsibilities. Key discussions included the results of a district vulnerability assessment conducted in October, the status of the District EOP submission currently awaiting response from the TEA, and various security updates. These updates covered routine maintenance of facility entry points, successful campus lockdown drills, the replacement of radio equipment, the hiring of a new security officer at the senior high, and an investigation into new classroom safety products such as Flip Lok.

The committee discussed federal program information related to the ESSA Grant, including Title I, Part A for at-risk student support, Title II, Part A for teacher and principal development, and Title III, Part A for services for Emergent Bilingual students. Additionally, staff reviewed the District Improvement Plan and provided feedback and guidance on areas for improvement.
