The board addressed a dispute regarding a residential construction project in Belleair Beach. Homeowners requested a variance to exceed the city's current height limit by three feet and eight inches, citing the need to raise the structure above potential future flood waters. After hearing arguments from both sides, the board voted to deny the variance request.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission provided an update regarding an investigation into felony commercial littering and misdemeanor harassment of a state-listed imperiled species. Officials discussed the arrests of two individuals involved in placing mothballs on a beach to deter nesting by black skimmer shorebirds. The update covered the investigative process, including the use of surveillance and text message evidence, and emphasized the ecological importance of protecting nesting sites for endangered species and maintaining public safety on the beach.
The press conference addressed the issue of teen takeover events that involve social media-coordinated gatherings in public spaces, leading to criminal activity, property damage, and violence, including shootings. Officials emphasized a zero-tolerance policy, the use of existing state laws to implement no-trespass zones and special enforcement zones, and the potential for felony charges for participants. There was a strong call for parental responsibility and a commitment to utilizing advanced cyber tools to identify and prosecute the networks organizing these events.
The meeting involved several key actions, including the approval of a land conveyance to the Board of Trustees of Hillsboro College to support campus revitalization and a new stadium project. The board discussed and approved the Florida Forever priority list and work plan, along with several conservation easement acquisitions. Additionally, the board addressed property tax oversight rules, reviewed bond finance reports including debt reduction efforts and new issuances, and approved investment plans for the Florida Prepaid College Board. Other matters included administrative rule repeals and approvals, the submission of contract reports, and the approval of initial and amended grant requests for immigration enforcement, with specific adjustments for equipment purchases in Lee County.
