The council meeting included the presentation of Mayor’s Athletic Leadership Awards to students from St. Mary’s Catholic School and Natchitoches Central High School. The council adopted resolutions to declare June as Rural Farmers Market Month, establish regular meeting times and locations for various city commissions, appoint a new clerk of the council, appoint a city auditor, designate a fiscal agent, appoint a legal journal, reappoint the city attorney and assistant city attorneys, and appoint members to the city planning commission and historic district commission.

The council meeting addressed several municipal matters, including a proclamation declaring Juneteenth in the city and the discussion of upcoming summer events such as the Sports Hall of Fame weekend and the July 4th celebration. The meeting included the adoption of the city budget for the upcoming fiscal year, with specific conditions placed on the economic development consulting fund. Additionally, updates were provided on residential and commercial development projects, including a road expansion plan. The council also approved an ordinance amending the current budget to align revenues and expenditures and initiated the contract award process for the Second Street and Two-Line Street concrete pavement replacement project.

The council recognized the airport employee of the month and adopted resolutions to proclaim National Police Week and Mental Health Awareness Month. Additionally, the council passed ordinances regarding the setting and rolling forward of property millage rates to support the Fire Department's operational costs, including rising fuel expenses.

The board meeting focused on the review and approval of an application for a mobile home replacement at 1440 Dixie Street, which was ultimately approved. The meeting also included reports on office activity and concluded with a formal recognition of the service of one of the board members.

The council received an annual audit report indicating a stable financial position for the city with no major audit or compliance findings. Special recognitions were presented to a long-serving city employee for 17 years of dedicated service and to the NSU Middle Lab School Orchestra for their superior performance and achievements at the Festival Disney competition. Additionally, the council adopted a proclamation declaring May 2026 as Building Safety Month to highlight the importance of resilient building practices and code enforcement.
