The Pennsylvania State University Future State Recommendation
The document presents a future state recommendation for the Commonwealth Campus Ecosystem of The Pennsylvania State University, focusing on addressing structural challenges such as declining enrollment, stagnant funding, and demographic shifts. The plan involves a comprehensive review of 12 Commonwealth Campuses, recommending the closure of seven campuses (DuBois, Fayette, Mont Alto, New Kensington, Shenango, Wilkes-Barre, and York) and continued investment in five campuses (Beaver, Greater Allegheny, Hazleton, Schuylkill, and Scranton). The strategic approach aims to consolidate resources, enhance academic and operational strength, and ensure long-term sustainability while maintaining access to quality education across the Commonwealth.
