The council received presentations regarding the Streetscape Project and the 2024-2025 fiscal year audit, both of which were approved. Public comments addressed local property and safety concerns, including policing, dilapidated homes, and a solar panel project. The police department provided updates on recent shootings, 911 response procedures, and staffing challenges. The council approved the release of certain property taxes and adopted the Northeastern NC Regional Hazard Mitigation Plan, as well as the Municipal Records Retention and Disposition Schedule. Additionally, updates were provided regarding surplus property appraisals, website ADA compliance, and upcoming community initiatives.
