Eastern Aroostook RSU 39 Budget Meeting
The meeting began with a thank you to the administration for their work in crafting the budget and to the public for their engagement. The budget process and timeline were shared, including opportunities for community input. Key components of the budget were discussed, such as enrollment, staffing, state subsidy, and municipal assessments. Health insurance changes and their impact on the budget were addressed. Enrollment and staffing numbers for Carville Community School, Carville High School, and the Caribou Regional Tech Center were presented. The proposed budget for the year was shared, along with historical municipal assessments. Cost of operations and salaries and benefits were also discussed. The savings resulting from the new school construction were reviewed, and a comparison of per-pupil costs with neighboring districts was presented. Clarification was provided on the different categories of local funding and their roles in funding the budget.
