Golden Valley Town Hall Town Hall
The event was the first town hall in the history of Golden Valley, organized by Mayor Rosyn Harmon to foster community engagement, allow residents to interact with city staff, and provide feedback. The opening segment featured welcomes from co-sponsors, including the League of Women Voters, the Golden Valley Rotary Club, and the Golden Valley Historical Society. A presentation was given by the Historical Society president regarding the history of Golden Valley, tracing its origins from Dakota homeland, through early settlement, incorporation as a village in 1886, becoming a city in 1972 under a Plan B statute, and its subsequent suburban development. The meeting also included explanations of ground rules emphasizing respect, active listening, and constructive dialogue. The Mayor noted that a recent community event prompted a focus on history and current community concerns, potentially limiting time for future initiatives.
